Big Brother NHS

If you don't want your medical records to go on the new NHS national database, you need to send an opt-out letter to your GP. Here is the link to a pro forma letter provided by "The Big Opt-out Campaign".

Sir Liam Donaldson, the chief medical officer, has written to GPs asking that letters from patients who want to keep their private medical details out of the government's reach should be sent to Patricia Hewitt, the health secretary, for "full consideration". (Guardian)

Perhaps the idea is to scare people into not opting out. If so, all the more reason to do it.
