Adam and the twenty pounds

No, not that Adam. This Adam.

I do like the new £20 note. And a country which puts Adam Smith on its pride-of-place banknote can't be all bad.

It does seem odd, doesn't it.

Although, and this may answer a question by Paul about the Budget, I suspect Grim Gordon and Devious Dave are playing a similar pre-election game: convincing the other half of the electorate that they're trustworthy.

Thanks for the reply about the Budget: my own conclusion was that scrapping the 10% rate was just too much of a temptation to resist. A means-tested benefit is so much more attractive than a tax break, in the cadaverous eyes of a statist.
