I just got a bunch of comments from an "Anonymous" — they're pretty obviously all from the same person. They're mostly stupid and off-topic, though once or twice there's a glimmer of meaning. Perhaps they're even mildly funny in a Dadaist sort of way. But I'm not going to post them (not qua comments, anyway).
This blog, which may be trying to look effortless but certainly isn't, is not there for people to foul over, so moderation will remain for the foreseeable future. Not that I've had to use it much: until now, I've rejected only three comments since blog commencement in July. One was anonymously rude, one was meant to be funny but wasn't (I think the author may have been drunk), and one struck me as un-informational and offensive to Muslims.
I've no idea what prompted this particular barrage, but my guess is I stirred up one of the readers of a certain left-leaning blog where I recently left some comments. Just a guess. Anyway, for information here are the person's bizarre comments. Happy now, A?
(BTW, "Salma Hayek — the best actress in the world"? Pur-lease.)
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "From the archives: Compulsory education beyond 16": My father decided one day to throw me into a deep lake to teach me how to swim. I will always appreciate that I was forced to learn how to swim. That's why, years later, to show my gratitude, I bought a large shotgun and blew a big hole right between my dear ol' pa eyes. And I laughed, and I laughed and I laughed. Then I went to jail for 20 years and my sex life has never been better. The end.
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Phoney consultation: I told you so": I smile alot. Sometimes my cheeks hurt at the end of the day. I'm afraid at times that if I don't smile, "they" will catch me. I'm not sure who "they" are but they are scary and they might eat me. I am not a number and certainly not the number 6. Community involvement is so wonderful.
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Unpublished mediocracy definition #2": Salma Hayek is the best actress in the world!
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Smiling demned nurses": Um, I just want to survive my heart surgery. I don't care whether the doctor smiles or not as he's cutting my insides open. If I wake up from the anasthesia, that will make me happy! I think I see rust on my hospital's machines. At the rate we're going, all these "hyper-happy" cultist freaks will kill the entire planet with kindness! Let's smoke another hookah and have a pray.
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "Surviving in a mediocracy (part 1)": Raoul says: "1. the elite [...] are destroying whatever make us more than just barbarians: langage, art etc." Um, dearie, that's "language" with a "u". Maybe it's not the elite destroying language; maybe you are, just by a) misspelling words and b) by propping up the elite as the all-seeing eye, all-powerful eye. All systems are imperfect. All systems will die. The elite have no real control. You are just too weak to recognize your own power. (But you didn't hear that from me.) Just shutup and join the masses or we-the-mob will snuff you out in gas chambers like other individualistic undesirables of yesteryear.
Anonymous has left a new comment on your post "A short history of the human race": God is in my pants and speaks to me, particularly in the morning when I just wake up. I worship "God" daily. I am also progressively becoming blind which may or may not be related to my manner of worship.
PS: This is not a precedent, so don't think you can get into my posts this way.
